Born in Belleville, Kansas, 1964, Derrick is from Beloit, Kansas. He attended Kansas State University and the University of Kansas, where he earned a B.A. in 1987, and was awarded a J.D. in 1991 from the University of Kansas School of Law. He was admitted to the bar in Kansas in 1991.
Derrick joined Arthur-Green in 1991. He more than 20 years of experience with commercial finance and banking, working with financial institutions to establish complex credits, participations, and syndications, as well as collections and foreclosure. He is also experienced as a civil litigator in personal injury defense, property law, and construction cases. Derrick advises many business clients on employment law compliance, risk management counseling, and structuring transactions. He has been managing partner of the firm since 1997. Shon joined Arthur-Green in 1994. He is experienced in estate planning, tax, real estate, and corporate law and is a frequent speaker on those topics. He counsels clients on all aspects of personal estate and tax planning, including tax deferred exchanges. His business practice includes tax planning, corporate governance and succession planning, and non-qualified deferred compensation issues. Shon is a frequent speaker on estate planning, real estate and taxation issues. He is actively involved in many community charitable and civic organizations, and currently serves as a director on the Kansas State Newman Foundation, Big Lakes Foundation, Inc., Manhattan Chamber of Commerce Foundation, the Memorial Hospital Association, and Mercy Health Community Foundation.
